Surgeons Washington DC

General surgeons are doctors who evaluate the need for surgery and are qualified to operate on the following areas: abdomen, alimentary tract, soft tissue, endocrine system, head, and neck. Additionally, these individuals may perform burn trauma, oncology, and vascular surgeries but do not take part in complicated operations, which consist of operating on heart and brain. A surgical diagnosis requires pre-operative, operative and post-operative care for surgical patients. General surgeons often choose a specialty. They need to go through surgical residency programs that generally last five years and must also take licensing examinations and earn board certification in their areas of specialization. Listed below you will find qualified general surgeons around Washington that can give you more information and answer all your questions.
